Fresh Sewing Day

The first day of each month is Fresh Sewing Day, hosted by Lily's Quilts, where we are invited to share a project from the previous month that made us happy. Though I've worked on several projects this last month that I've really enjoyed, I think overall, my Kaleidoscope has topped them all. I really like the fabrics I chose for this quilt-along, mostly DS prints from my stash. And I really love the grays I added in to coordinate. Though working with the templates was not my favorite part of the project, nor was the excessive ironing due to the centers bubbling, overall I am very pleased with how the quilt is coming along. Here's a pic of it in basting mode.

I changed my quilting plan mid-stream, but am making good progress on it, and am happy with it so far, though it is definitely still a work in progress. I especially(!) like the little 'star' made at the block centers, and those big diamonds between the prints. I won't be doing any more quilting in those, as I like them alot the way they are. So now I'm working on quilting the printed fabric stars - hopefully you can see what I've started.

There's quite a lot of quilting yet to do - I pretty much feel like I've earned the title of 'quilt wrangler!' Even so, the happiness continues. Be sure and see all the happy projects over at Lily's Quilts!

  1. The kaleidoscope is near the top of my list on quilts to try. Although if you are having issues maybe I should wait a while before I tackle it! Yours looks fabulous! The quilting complements the quilt very well!
