An Accurate Definition

"Swoon": feel faint with joy: to be overwhelmed by happiness, excitement, adoration, or infatuation.

If that doesn't describe perfectly what I felt as I worked on and finished this quilt, I don't know what does.
Using Kate Spain's Terrain seemed the perfect choice when I considered making my Swoon quilt. The colors and patterns in this fabric line were a joy to work with, and every block I made was my new favorite.
For the backing, I decided on large color blocks, separated by a row of pieced scraps. (Though, seriously, can anything Terrain be considered a "scrap"?)
When it came time to quilt, I decided to repeat what I had done on my first one-block "mini" Swoon, except on a much larger scale. Basically, I stitched an 'X' from corner to corner, then straight-line echo-stitched in each quadrant, about 1" apart.
Finally, I made some striped binding, which I think did a good job of pulling the various elements of the quilt together.

And so here, at long last, is Swoon.
My infatuation with this striking pattern by Camille Roskelley has not worn off, as you can tell by my flicker gallery and my Pinterest board. And now finally, I have a big beautiful Swoon quilt of my very own. Yay.

Very nice! Right now I'm trying to pick a pattern...this is the second finished Swoon quilt I've seen today without lookinf for that kind of pattern...I'm liking more each time I see it (only my blocks may be the close in style Carpenter Square variation).
The Terrain was a great choice!

your quilt is lovely. but, my favorite part is you peeking over the edge. those blocks are so big and it is hard to get a sense of scale in most swoon quilt photos.

Debbie, it's gorgeous! I can appreciate your weakness for Swoon blocks. They are really striking and you did a beautiful job with the fabrics. The quilting just tops it all off. Congrats on a beautiful quilt!

I love this quilt, and I've enjoyed following you on Pinterest!! I have FINALLY finished my swoon top and I think I would like to quilt it like this! Did you mark your quilting lines or use a guide on your walking foot to get such even spacing?

I bought a charm pack of Terrain and once I wore into it, I really struggled with using most of the pieces in a baby quilt. I'm not sure what was up with that. Your quilt is fabulous -- it's great that it's from the very fabric I had such a tough time with. I just got the Swoon pattern this weekend so maybe I'll have a Swoon quilt (not out of Terrain!) soon.
