. . . so much so, that I was compelled to make a mini x-quilt for myself. Not finding a pattern or tutorial, I had to figure it out. So I grabbed a charm pack, did the math, then went to work cutting and piecing.
I'm not sure why, but I'm loving these little 'x's!
For her mini quilt challenge, amylouwho had encouraged us to "try something new and break out of our comfort zones". I had already done that by working without a pattern, and decided to really go for it, and try a new free-motion quilting pattern. {Considering I had only ever done free motion here and here, this was a pretty big deal.} But I decided to go for it and did a swirly-ish meander. Perfect? No way. Did my friend the seam ripper help me out occasionally? Yup. But I kept repeating to myself, "I'm supposed to try something new! I can do this!"
And so, here is "Ruby X", 16 X 20" of darling, quilted up with determination rather than mastery. And I'm smitten again.

OH those little crosses are just delightful. No wonder you couldn't resist
Quite, quite gorgeous. I'm working on a Ruby X quilt too (but bigger x 4.5" squares and only 25% through the cutting!). I love how the white in your mini lifts the fabric. I'm not using white...but maybe should reconsider? My daughter is a Ruby so this fabric has been on the wish list for quite some time....lucky it's beautiful!
Excellent, Debbie! Look at you and your FMQ! It looks fabulous! Good for you for trying new, slightly uncomfortable things. Your mini is a beauty and I love the coal border, it looks great with those fabrics.
Oh gosh that is absolutely gorgeous. Well done for going out of your comfort zone. I love the border and the binding too, perfect!
You have inspired me to try that too, not quite sure exactly when I will start it though!!!
Debbie, that looks so wonderful. You did such a great job, Love your fabric choices, too.
Why it's lovely. I think I need to try the X pattern -- I'm feeling brave. You must feel satisfied that you worked it all out on your own.
So cute! Love the FMQ! You did a great job!
aww, I love the little x's!!
Without a doubt your choice of border and binding frame the X's perfectly. So cute!

Very cute Debbie!! Love the design, AND the fabric!
By the way, thanks for linking me up! I was able to check here and saw my little house right aways. Glad I didn't have to do it from here because this connection is sooooo slow!
Have a wonderful day.
I am the lucky owner of that pillow you pictured above by Kristy and your mini is just adorable. So happy to see you are doing a tutorial!!
