Fresh Sewing Day

Seriously, I was half way through the day yesterday before it came to me, "Fresh Sewing Day!" Yikes. I very nearly forgot. But gladly I did not. So first up is a mosaic of blocks from the month - mostly City Sampler blocks, with a few bee blocks and the Mango block thrown in.

As far as other projects . . . this Zakka pincushion was the last project in the Patchwork, Please sew along. It was a little sad to say farewell to the sew along, but projects are still being added to the flickr group so that's been fun! And of course this sweet pincushion gets used well every time I sit at my machine.

A little late in the game I finished Twinkle as part of 100 Quilts for Kids, and it's been donated to my local Project Linus chapter.

And I finally did something I've been wanting to do for a while - draft up the Mango block. Thanks to Marci of Marci Girl Designs who lent her expertise in creating the templates, which I obviously used to create this mini. I had a fun time with the finishing details - the quilting and the binding flange. This was a super satisfying finish. There's even a tutorial if you're so inclined to make your own.

Another super happy finish was Crazy Rainbow, my project for the Mini Quilt Swap. I put alot into this one crazy piecing a bunch o'scraps, went easy with the quilting, and then tried something new with the faced binding. I'm beyond pleased with it, and from what I hear, so is my partner. Score.

After the pressure of the last couple of sewing months, October felt a bit more relaxed, which was really appreciated. I especially enjoyed the two minis and kind of "doing my own thing." Hope to do more of that soon.

Linking up with Fresh Sewing Day.
