The Random Never Ends

Things around here aren't that exciting in a "share on a quilting blog" sort of way. Ie. no finishes in sight, and not much progress even. In a home renovation sort of way, things are very exciting though, with new hardwoods in several rooms, and new carpeting going in several more today. Talk about transformation. Let's just say we're smack dab in the middle of how things were and having everything back in its place. Hoping life settles down and I'm back to a sewing routine soon.
This would be my living room stacked in my dining room . . . hoping to put it all back SOON!

Did you see the quilt started in space? Kinda cool and if I remember, I'll send in a quilt block. If you're intrigued, here's a video from Astronaut Karen Nyberg showing her first block. The deadline isn't until August 1, 2014, so we've got plenty of time!

The 7th annual Handmade Holidays sponsored by sew mama sew is underway! There are different categories every day - follow along for some holiday gift-giving ideas!

Giveaway Day has been announced! This is a super fun event - watch for more details!

It was very fun to see Grandma G/A Photo's Worth had made up a Special Occasion Clutch. This was only her second frame purse, so I was really thrilled she had an easy time of it.

Though my house is in a tizzy and my new studio space isn't organized at all, I've been able to sew just a bit on some pillow covers for my mom. Piecing is done, and I'm knee-deep in quilting, two of the patterns (including the one on the right)  new to me and a tad challenging. Good think I didn't pack my seam ripper away, as quilting pattern #3 needed  a do-over. Hope to be stuffing these this week end.

  4. Hey, thanks for including my clutch! I couldn't/wouldn't have done it without you! :)

I don't envy your house mess, but I'm sure you'll find it all worth it in the end. Maybe we'll get 'after' pics, huh?

  14. Very little sewing is possible during renos... Laying or replacing hardwood floors is tedious, dusty, and generally unpleasant while it happens but so worth it when it's done. Just had ours replaced after some water damage and we were without a kitchen for two weeks so I empathize. :-)

  15. Seeing the difficulties of sewing in space, makes me not want to complain about the little challenge I encounter in getting quilt blocks done. I loved seeing this video.

Hope your home renovation soon ends and that you can get back to your sewing room and sewing. Good for you for putting up with all the chaos!
