In addition to this week's list, I got star #2 in the
Solstice Stars Series done last night. The
Whirling Star is, uh, paper-pieced. Not my speciality, and I pieced it with about 30% of the seams being ripped out and stitched again (operator error!). I'm not super happy with the fabrics I chose to use together, mostly due to the last of contrast in the center "cones". But it looks good with the
Ribbon Star from last week, so all's shining bright.
The Whirling Star is great!! Paper piecing gets easier the more you do! I'm sure your brain will cope better next time!
ReplyDeleteGreat list! I just recently started watching NCIS. We love Chuck, but usually miss it.
ReplyDeleteI like your block. I love the shape of that one!
I see we have similar tastes when it comes to TV. The Next Iron Chef and the Next Food Network Star are two of my favorite shows too.
ReplyDeleteEven though paper piecing is not your speciality, this block looks great! Look at the points on those triangles! Sharp!
Paper piecing? I would have run the other way. It turned out amazing and I just can't get enough of that DS fabric. Your quilt is going to be beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love your Whirling Star - great fabric choices! And honestly, if Paper Piecing isn't your thing, I'd never know. Your block is perfection!
ReplyDeleteI'm not participating in the solstice stars project, but I did bookmark this tutorial the other day when it came out. I actually don't mind paper piecing but I do sort of need to re-learn it each time I try, which is seldom!
ReplyDeleteGreat star! I started paper piecing last week and think I found the most difficult block to begin with- New York Beauty. I did have to rip out a lot of seams in the beginning :D
ReplyDeletei really love the block. i think the fabrics play very well together!
ReplyDeleteLove your star! I need to give that pattern a try.
ReplyDeleteWe have compatible TV habits. Castle and Good Wife are my 2 faves. :)
I looove me some Castle and Good Wife!
ReplyDeletePaper piecing, yea! I think the block looks great. As for TV I'm with you all the way with The Good Wife - one of the two shows I make time to watch. Have you not discovered the wonderfulness that is Downton Abbey?
ReplyDeleteI love how the block turned out. I gave paper piecing a try this week and I loved the results. I might make this a paper piecing weekend, maybe????
