City Sampler Quilt Along :: Blocks 46, 47, & 48

Woo hoo! Next week will mark half-way through the City Sampler book! The triangle chapter seems to be going on and on, but I guess that's life. I did use a method to stretch some of my limited Tula fabrics this week. I happened to have just one 6" charm of the print I wanted to use for block #46. But though the book called for 4-3 1/2" squares, I was able to pair the charm with a 6" solid square, stitch 1/4" around the outside edges, and then cut diagonally to make 4 hsts I could trim to 3 1/2". Worked like a charm - no pun intended!

After that it was easy piecing.

I used the same method on the next block to speed up the piecing. Love all those dots.

And my favorite block of the bunch  . . .
Once again, a nice little breather from the larger projects going on in the studio.

Linking up with Sew Sweetness.

  1. Great idea, I was thinking about this just to save fabric!!! My math is not really fantastic, so i'll just copy you! Could you please tell me what size you cut the fabric for the small triangles? Just if you remember! Thanks for sharing all info!!!

  6. More great blocks, Debbie! There is a girl in the RI mod guild making these and it's fun to see her book get fuller every month.
