pretty petals

My Bee Sewcial @beesewcial beemate Tia Curtis @tiacurtisquilts asked us to help her make a wild and wonky orange peel quilt. Here are my improv petal blocks, each approximately 6.5" square.

Tia asked that we use pinks, peach, purple and reds for our petals, and then set them into blue backgrounds. She also asked for the ends of the petals to be generally pointing towards opposite corners of the backgrounds.

I actually found the prompt somewhat challenging in its simplicity, especially the pieced backgrounds. But I really enjoyed the palette; and believe it or not, these aren't the only orange peel blocks I'll be working on this month, so stay tuned!

  3. I always think it's interesting to learn when design prompts are a bit too open ended and conversely when they are a bit too constraining. I think your blocks all look great!
