The closest matches to Emerald I've found so far are Lizzy House jewels in dark green and the pearl bracelets in swiss chard . . . Would love to know what you are finding . . .
I'm not actively looking for it as I have no plans to use it so far. It might end up in a piece of quilt at some point this year. Otherwise I'll just enjoy if anyone else makes something from it.
I am kind of shocked that the fabric manufacturers haven't done the hunting for us - without a swatch I can't say for sure what else is out there but I like the two you've discovered.
Oh I've spent hours obsessing on Etsy looking myself. I want to buy something, but I think I'll be using stash fabrics. Jennifer Paanelli has a few emerald prints
I am not sold on the shade Pantone calls Emerald - for me, it is too blue/teal, whereas I think of Emerald as a true green. Kona Clover is the closest match to the colour I think of when I hear Emerald. Personally, given how hard Pantone's Emerald colour is to find, I think they might have missed the mark a bit this year. I do really like the Pearl Bracelets fabric you have though.
I love green! My biggest stash colors are all shades of greens and browns, but Pantones emerald? This is the worst shade of green I've ever seen. And I agree, it's not exactly what I think of when I hear Emerald (I think of the color of a gemstone)....add me to the list of not actively hunting. With the price of fabric reaching $12plus a yard, I'm not buying colors I don't like.
I agree with Adrienne and Jacob. It's not quite what I was thinking of. I love green, especially a nice "true" green (like the gemstone!) I tried making a quilt with those colors this summer, and it was HARD to find fabrics that matched. One I found and liked was this one: http://www.joann.com/stonehill-collection-fabric-alfresco-diamond-green/zprd_11516911a/
From JoAnns, which I realize some are violently opposed to, but it is their high-end line, and it seemed like pretty good fabric to me. Some of "Summersville" might be close too.
Green is such a hard color to find a true representation of when looking at manufactured goods, like fabric.i tried to find GREEN when making a quilt and was never able to really hit it. Tangerine was so great last year. And it seemed everyone took it up - where are the representations of Emerald out there? I agree with the others - not quite what "emerald" means to me.
Birds and Berries by Lauren and Jessie Jung have a fabric called 'Leaf Cut Paper' (code SKU# 25063-20). It is a lovely emerald green and has a velvety look about it. Check it out at the FQ Shop although the green is much darker and more emerald than the photo there.
I have to admit that I was crest fallen when Pantone announced their color of the year. Green is simply not my favorite colors. When I met my husband he wore a lot of green and little did he realize that, as a blond, it made his skin and hair look green too. And not a nice green either.
There are some nice hues of green but Pantone's selection is not to my personal taste.
I'm sure by the end of the year it'll either have grown on me or I'll dislike it even more. ;D I will endeavour to make a predominately green quilt this year!
i have so much green in my stash which is funny because it is one of my least favorite colors... or maybe it is my unknown/repressed favorite color. ;) although, i realize it isn't green... it is emerald!

ReplyDeleteI'm not really a green fan, but good luck with your hunt!
ReplyDeleteOh, actually, would the green flowers from Indie work?
Thanks for this photo Debbie! I am not actively looking for Emerald but they are the exact prints I saw the other day:)

It is official, I think I only have one piece of fabric in my stash that is emerald, which is a shame because I love that color!
