- Spring Cooking from The New York Times on Pinterest - Oh my. We all know what a great recipe source Pinterest is, so I was more than pleased to find this board filled entirely with spring meal ideas.
- Daily Buzz Food on Asparagus - OK, asparagus is one of those veggies that's in our cart nearly every trip to the grocery store, so I'll be perusing this article next time I make a shopping list.
So if it's spring where you are, what are you rediscovering or looking forward to enjoying soon? Besides those green things and other fresh produce, I'm also keeping close tabs on this reoccurring wonder in my yard . . . It won't be long now.

ReplyDeleteGraham made an apple/rhubarb crisp yesterday, with rhubarb from our garden. It was here when we moved into this house ten years ago and it's the type that needs absolutely no attention or encouragement to grow like CRAZY, each and every year!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful rhubarb - I have such yummy memories of my Mom cooking rhubarb from our garden as kids. This year I really want to set up a raised bed for myself and daughter to tend to throughout the year. Lovely inspiration!

ReplyDeleteI had never heard of making it with strawberries....I grew up with rhubarb and granny smiths. This is my #1 thing I am missing from my garden at the moment. I just don't seem to find the seeds in our local garden shop.
I have fresh broccoli and spinach at the moment. So our recipes have been to include them :-)
Oh mmm! I wish I'd planted rhubarb when we moved in, I haven't made my Mom's rhubarb bread for a few years.
ReplyDeleteI love rhubarb; hubby doesn't. Oh well. I'm guessing I won't see fresh rhubarb here in Florida anyway. (We've lived here only nine months.)
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting, strawberries are very definitely a summer fruit here (it is Scotland after all, next stop the Arctic!), but I tend to start trying to eat salads in January hoping to wish winter away ;o)
ReplyDeleteThis is my second season of rhubarb. I found good size plants to purchase rather than growing from seed, as I wanted to have some to eat sooner rather than later! I too am a strawberry and rhubarb pie fan. We have had such an odd spring here in the Bay Area, I haven't planted any new "crops" yet. First it was cold, then it was pouring, then it was hot, then it was pouring, now its cold and windy but will be in high 70s by weekend. Maybe it's time...
