This giveaway is now closed. Thank you for visiting!
It's time for another round of Giveaway Day, hosted by Sew, Mama, Sew! As usual, it's bound to be a fun few days hopping around social media, meeting new creative types, visiting old favorites, and entering giveaways along the way.
My giveaway is a fat-quarter bundle of neutral Cotton + Steel basics. As much as I love the beautiful saturated colors in the C+S collections, there's something special about these basics too, and I hope you like them as much as I do.
For a chance to win, just leave a comment on this post sharing about your own use of neutral fabrics. Do you incorporate alot of neutral or low-volume in your sewing, or do you shy away from it? Have you read a good post about it that you can share? What's your very favorite neutral? I'm curious about it all, so please share. For more chances, let me know that you follow A Quilter's Table, aquilterstable on Instagram, AQT on facebook, or are a subscriber to my newsletter, The Scrap Basket. That's alot of chances and you can connect to any of them over in the sidebar.
The giveaway will be open through Sunday, May 10, and I will email the randomly chosen winner on Monday. I am happy to ship internationally. Please include an email address in your comment if it is not accessible through your profile. If you win and I can't find your email easily, I won't hesitate to choose another winner. Due to the number of comments expected on this post, I may not be able to respond to you all. But I definitely appreciate your stopping by A Quilter's Table, and I hope you come again to join in my journey of quilting and sharing around the table.
I'm trying to use more low volume prints as background fabric instead of just solid white always. And I love grey in a quilt it's so calming to the eye and plays nice with all the other colors. And I have the dream to use my 'Little Black Dress' for a quilt one day although the color palett is out of my comfort zone.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway:-) hildy@ebertzeder.de

I have only made one low volume quilt but have found that since it was made more and more low volume neutrals have found their way into my piecing. Even that quilt had a hot pink border to help balance the neutrals.
ReplyDeleteYour one of the blogs I check daily for new post!!!! and I need lots of practice using "neutrals". My idea of neutrals is chocolate brown...
ReplyDeleteI LOVE these greys in the Cotton & Steel basics!! they are the perfect neutrals, in my opinion!
ReplyDeleteI follow your blog and I love it. So inspiring! I normally use just white or grey fabric as contrast to other colorful fabrics, but I really would like to use more of these neural prints. I think sometimes it makes a block even more interesiting.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to make a low volume quilt soon; it's on my list. Right now, neutrals tone down all the crazy colors I love. Thanks for the opportunity!
ReplyDeleteI primarily use low-volume or solids actually though rarely neutrals (except for my extensive black shirt collection). These look lovely-I do love grays in decor.
ReplyDeleteLoving the newsletter and of course I've got you listing on my blog roll so it's quick to get to and read. Thanks for sharing your talent and techniques with all of us!
ReplyDeleteI use low volume as often as I can. It replaces tone on tone for me. I really don't have a favorite.
ReplyDeleteI have a lot of LV, but don't use it that much. I've mostly bought it for bee blocks! :) My favorite neutral is navy.

ReplyDeleteI started off loving low volume as it because a more widely used term / style - but gradually, I've come to just love neutrals in general. This giveaway is perfect for me because these C+S neutrals are my favorites! I love using them with a pop of color, or in a stark palette. YUM. Thanks so much for the chance to win! ( julie at button-button dot co dot uk)

ReplyDeleteI'm lovin' all these low volume fabrics! Just did a paper pieced with them and it turned out so pretty!….if I do say so myself :) I follow you on IG. Thank You so much for such a fun give away bundle!! sunluvr5@cox.net
ReplyDeleteI shy away from greys. I usually use tans/beiges/whites. I need to start using more low volumes. I've been quilting for about 5 years, so I guess I'm fairly new to it. I definitely need to stretch my wings!
ReplyDeleteI love low volume prints! These c+s are some of my faves. Had they been released when I was working on my hexie quilt, they would have been incorporated into the low volume spaces.
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie -- oooh, thanks so much for offering these up! I was just eyeing them last night, as a matter of fact:D I absolutely love to use neutrals -- usually I gravitate towards white or a light grey, but I'm trying to get over my fear of black too. Thanks so much again!
ReplyDeleteI have only recently begun building my low volume/neutral stash. This bundle certainly would be a great addition! I love neutrals with lots of color. Such a beautiful stack of fabric!

ReplyDeleteI love gray but haven't used any yet. I have a quilt planned that will be about 50/50 aqua and white. I bought 10 yards of white fabric so I know I have enough for the front and back!
ReplyDeleteI love neutrals/low volume fabrics or stuffed toys. They add a bit of extra interest without overpowering a pattern.
ReplyDeleteI am an avid collector of low volume prints, saving them up for a very special quilt pattern I got a couple months ago, these c + s prints would be the perfect addition! Thank you for such a generous giveaway! Kaitlynpallas@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI get bored of white, I like the idea of mixing neutrals up a bit for backgrounds and have incorporated LVs into a few things now.
ReplyDeleteI tend to shy away, I like to use bright colors. Though, I do love a good low volume background :)
ReplyDeleteSome LV looks amazing, sometimes I'm not as into it. I tend to go for neutral solids (white, gray, tan) or tone on tone neutrals for the backgrounds. These look lovely!
ReplyDeleteGreat bundle, Debbie! I seem to collect low volume fabrics but don't actually use them Lol. My favorite neutral is Moda Bella Steel. I think it is a nice gray.
ReplyDeleteI follow on IG and FB and subscribe to the newsletter. :)
ReplyDeleteI've always shied away from low volume fabrics, though I do have a small collection of them that is growing! I have an idea in my head for a quilt with a low volume background, so maybe I should make that come true. My favourite low volume is grey, I love grey.

ReplyDeleteI love love love neutrals. And I think I might only quilt in them if I thought that was allowed. Right now, I'm experimenting with screen-printing over neutral quilt tops and loving it, so I have eight more neutral mini quilt tops in the works.

ReplyDeleteThese are, indeed, some special neutrals! I read a book by Freddie Moran and Gwen Marston where Freddie talked about her neutral - red - which totally gave me permission to figure out what I prefer to use, no matter what the shade! So of course I've used the usual suspects, white, black, and grey ... but when I found a tan/beige natural flax at the local fabric store, I used that, too. I try to keep an open mind, but as a child of the 70s, I can't bear the thought of using brown. It's my only no-go when it comes to quilting and neutrals. :)

ReplyDeleteI really try never to use white in my quilts so low volume prints are a great solution!

ReplyDeleteI would love to win these as I fear the day I run out... Cotton + Steel knocked it out of the park with these! My favourite neutral is grey or brown
ReplyDeleteNeutrals make a great backdrop for other colors and can really make bright colors pop. Grey and taupe really look nice with cool colors. I follow your with Blogger to my blog so I can see when you have a new post. I love your improv stuff.
ReplyDeleteI like the quiet voice of neutral fabrics. I normally am drawn to bold, bright colors , looking for an explosion of color. Now, I'm exploring the understated approach and trying for thatwee sparkler bit of color, nestled between restful colors. . .
ReplyDeleteThese are some of my favourites too. I have been having a lot of fun lately using really light low volume and neutral solids for backgrounds and love the effect.

ReplyDeleteI haven't been quilting that long and just realized in the past year that I really needed some fabrics that weren't so loud and in your face. My collections of neutrals is still pretty small.
ReplyDeleteI have always used Kona snow as my background fabric but I recently made the switch the bella 97 and I like that more. I have made a low volume quilt using pinks blues and yellows with grey and white and love the way it turned out.
ReplyDeleteUp until recently, I've always used neutrals in the tan/beige colorway, but recently I've been venturing over into the grays.
ReplyDeleteI love neutrals, especially for boys' clothing with a splash of colour sewgraciousthreads AT gmail DOT com

ReplyDeleteMy first quilt was all darks so it is hard to me to use neutrals even as background but I am trying.
ReplyDeleteI am just starting to explore using LV fabrics in my quilting and have really been enjoying them as opposed to just solid color negative space. Thank you for the opportunity to win!
ReplyDeletesince I make a lot of clothes for my kids and myself, sewing with natural color fabrics works great for pairing with brighter fabrics!
ReplyDeleteI never really jumped on the low volume print bandwagon; I'm consciously trying to use more solids in my quilts. I like the idea of different solids (chartreuse) standing in for a neutral.
ReplyDeleteI love the C&s neutrals! I use neutrals in backgrounds all the time!

ReplyDeleteI use neutrals on the inside of knitting or other bags so it's easier to find the things in the bags.
ReplyDeleteAs a new quilter I wasn't very familiar with fabric terminology. But, thanks to bloggers like you I've learned a lot. I didn't know I was using low volume fabric I just used what I liked. Armed with a little more knowledge I'm now incorporating low volume fabric intentionally.

ReplyDeleteI love neutral grays - from Kona "ash" to small prints. I'm also keeping my eye out for white textured fabrics (I don't like whites which have "painted" white designs on them.)

ReplyDeleteLOVE low volume and try to work them into everything!
ReplyDeleteYou are on my Bloglovin feed!
ReplyDeleteI follow you on Instagram and pinterest. Loving the neutrals. :)
ReplyDeleteI love color! Bold saturated color, so most of my fabric choices are not neutral. But what is out there to better show off color than neutrals and low-volumes? Most of our quilting journeys are about pushing our limits, trying new things, and learning new techniques. I never plan to stay at the same level or repeat the same choices in pattern and/or color. I'm always onto the next thing, so low-volume and neutrals? Comin' for ya! ;)
ReplyDeleteI love grey a lot lately. Many beautiful shades and it makes a great backdrop for lots of other colours. annesimonot@sasktel.net
ReplyDeleteI am pretty boring, my backgrounds are usually white. I would like to find a nice low volume bundle, or try Kona Ash, I see a lot of quilters doing that. Thanks for the generous giveaway! It's a perfect neutral bundle and I love Cotton + Steel. jacklynnsteven at netzero dot com

ReplyDeleteI'm following your blog on bloglovin.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any low volume fabrics, but I tend to use light & medium gray as backgrounds a lot. I think they show less wear & tear than white, and are easier to sew with than black. Thanks for the chance to win! mto2golsen (at) gmail (dot) com

ReplyDeleteI love neutrals. I tend to use neutrals as a base so that the colors really pop when I use them. It's the same way I decorate...white or gray walls, with colorful artwork and fabrics as accents.
ReplyDeleteI love color but I also love sewing with grey fabrics. My quilts have mostly used white as a background though..I've never really tried greys.
ReplyDeleteI have just started to collect low-volume fabric. I follow you on instagram. I want to win!!! I will sign up for your newsletter today! scheibsdeb@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteLove the Cotton and Steel Basics! I've been trying to incorporate more low volume in my sewing lately. I tend to use a lot of white on white prints but I really want to continue to branch out more into "true" low volume. It is just nice to have the extra visual interest that you don't get with a solid.
ReplyDeletei didn´t use many low volume fabrics yet. but i love this bundle of fabrics from cotton & steel. thanks for the chance to win.

ReplyDeleteI love these fabrics!!!!! I like using neutrals (my friends tease me about gray being my favorite color) in almost every aspect of my life!!! Decorating as well as in projects. I think it provides a clean classic look, but you can throw a more vibrant color with it and they complement each other so well! Thanks!

ReplyDeleteI don't really use a lot of neutrals, but maybe I should.
ReplyDeleteI love warm tans and light grays for neutrals.
