1. First up was my SMQG BOM medallion quilt.
Considering I was half-way through quilting, it didn't take long to finish up Confectionery, and that brought pure relief. Nearly a year in the works, I was thrilled to complete this long-term w.i.p. The complexity of layers in a quilt like this is really something unique, and was a good experience for me.
2. Next up was a FAITH Circle quilt using my own block tutorial.
X Marks the Improv is the happy result! I'll definitely be revising this block, and can honestly say this is probably my favorite finish so far this year. I was so pleased, once again, that blocks made by many hands could become such a cohesive whole. Thanks again, Faith Circle!
3. I had all my supplies ready to make noodlehead's Carkai Gatherer Crossbody Bag, though my final fabric choices had yet to be made.
Though not really an avid bag-maker, The Gatherer went together without a hitch and I'm been using it every day since. It's really the perfect size for me, and I especially love the closure detailing.
It's my Polaroid blocks that left me uninspired. I really like the framing I'd chosen to use - Yvonne/Quilting Jet Girl's On a Slope Block, but I think the small size of the blocks just got the best of me. I got just a few done, and one of these days I'm sure I'll be ready to face them again.
So I'm feeling pretty good about finishing three of four projects on my list. I've linked up my finishes - now off to peruse the other links! Don't forget, "tutorial week" starts today with Leanne/She Can Quilt!

ReplyDeleteLovely finishes, but X Marks the Improv really speaks to my blue-loving soul. :) Every time I start a project with smaller piecing, I re-learn that tiny piecing can take a while. I'm excited to see how the On the Slope treatment you are giving the Polaroid blocks comes together, though.

ReplyDeleteConfectionary is a really striking quilt. I think sometimes it's hard to appreciate the end results of things which aren't our normal leanings. But others can... and I do!

ReplyDelete3 out of 4 definitely isn't bad - especially those 3! That X quilt is just so beautiful too. And I totally get how you can get bored with a quilt. I try to stay away from small piecing and small blocks that will take forever to put together into a decent size quilt.
ReplyDeleteI love the X Marks. However, the one time I did something similar to that, I cut it short I found the matching up of the crosses became tedious very quickly. I love the results, though!
