I came very close to changing out that center square for something more 'exciting,' but I decided to just stick with the directions and I do think the placement of fabrics in this one is interesting - in a good way, of course. Not matchy matchy at all, and it reaffirms (to me at least) throwing in a solid here and there into a pile of prints (and vice versa). It's a good thing.

Great piecing. Flying Geese blocks are like a math experiment to me.
ReplyDeleteThey can be used so many different ways too.
Flying Geese are not my favorite blocks, either. I should probably practice piecing them some more. :)
ReplyDelete"Not the best of friends" made me laugh as I feel much the same way. I, too, was very careful and I think I did okay although I'm not so sure of the colors I used. I'm picking my way through scraps and trying to "sorta" stick to the suggested palette. Your colors, though, are lovely and quite pleasing.
ReplyDeleteI love your fabrics! I used Lee Heinrich’s Perfect Flying Geese templates. What a game changer!
ReplyDeleteHi! I didn't see an email attached to your comment so I'll reply here to say that tho I don't have Lee's geese templates, I DO have the HSTs so I know they are very handy to have!
Deleteanother beautiful block!
ReplyDeleteI love flying geese but as HSTs I oversize them and trim them down with a block loc. That way I have really good points most of the time. You could try that :) And the block really is a fun design! xo Melanie
