A few years ago, I saw a hint of an alphabet pattern Carolyn Friedlander had posted on Instagram, so when I saw the pattern appear last week, I nabbed it because I liked it, not really because I knew what I wanted to make with it.
But it didn't take me long! In all these years, I'd never made an A Quilter's Table banner, and it seemed the perfect use for Carolyn's alphabet. I designed mine similar to Carolyn's style - i.e. the letters were stacked, and not necessarily in complete-word order.
I can see that a couple of the letters might have benefited from a redo so they were more visible, but I'd already done that a couple of times, and in person, I really liked it just the way it was.
Front, back, and binding, this mini quilt (19" x 24.5") was made entirely from Carolyn's fabrics, some of my very favorites.
Quilted with a one-inch grid, I used Aurifil 50wt 2840 [Loden Green] throughout the grid, except for Aurifil 50wt 2870 [Green] for the horizontal quilting in the darker green section at the bottom.
This was such fun, and I really want to do something else with these letters and fabrics. One of these days!

ReplyDeleteOh, very fun indeed. I feel like Carolyn's alphabet has an improv like feel to it, and in combination with her prints that are angular it only enhances that sense, which matches your aesthetic so well!

ReplyDeleteI like the alphabet and your fabric choices. I've used the alphabets by Tonya R. and Lynne T. -- this one has skinnier letters. Now to look it up......
