A Year of Doodles

After finishing up the Oh Christmas Tree stitchery from Stitchdoodles, I went looking at the website, to see what else might be fun to stitch. And there I found A Year of Doodles

A monthly embroidery fabric panel, I ordered the pre-printed panel, which comes with a square of soft Calico stabilizer to put behind the panel before putting it into an embroidery hoop. I'm using a double-thickness of Aurifil 12wt for this panel. I'm thinking of using a different handful of colors for each month. And yes, I paid for shipping from the UK, but I figured for a year-long project, it was definitely worth it. Just a few more days, and I get to start in on February!

  1. This looks fun. I am doing my small samplers from Dropcloth as a year long project and each sampler is going to g to be done in a range of colors representing the temperatures.

  2. I saw this but I already have a couple of stitcheries going so I decided not to do this one. Love the blues! Glad you're doing this so I can see how it comes out.

  4. I think a fresh color for every month sounds great. I know finishing this is a bit far off, but I could see turning it into a clock...

  5. The title of this blog post piqued my interest. Just had to see what Debbie is doodling now. What in interesting embroidery design. I like it. I'm only curious about why you chose to stitch with two strands of 12-weight. That means you're stitching thick lines that are near to 30-weight. Is that for better coverage? Won't the finer parts of the design get lost? Or maybe there aren't any fine lines to cover.
