Tuesday at the Table

We had the rare treat of being hosted by our nephew and niece and their spouses this past weekend. It was fun - and gratifying - to be around fellow-foodies who are a generation younger, finding as much joy in the kitchen as I do.

Now this was one lunch, mind you . . . Bacon-Wrapped Jalapeno Poppers, which personally I had never tried to make myself. (Click on the link for the recipe I think they were using, Pinterest-lovers that they are.)

Then, no recipe needed, just a newly-purchased gadget to make individualized super stuffed burgers.
Hats off to our nephew the grill-master, for keeping everyone's burgers straight!
Make that cheese-burgers . . .

Lastly - always a family for interesting beverages - were the Lava Flows. (Non-alcoholic this go-round, though we've all been to Hawaii together and know all about authentic ones!)

Let's just say as hubby and I drove/rolled away after our weekend together, Chicken Salad Sandwiches and Peach Cobbler safely packed away for our lunch on the road, we were definitely content. In more ways than one.

  5. I linked up Gina, who shared this recipe by email:

Beer Can Chicken (a.k.a. Drunken Chicken) is a recipe that's been around for quite some time, but my husband and I finally got around to trying it last night. Oh-so-moist and tasty!

Simply rub salt and pepper all over the chicken and situate it sitting upright over a can of beer on a solid surface (I found a specially designed tray at Target to use, but it's not necessary). Put it on the smoker for a couple of hours. Enjoy!
