Believe it or not, it's time! With this post, the first quarter of the 2016 Finish-A-Long is open. Many many thanks to Adrianne/On The Windy Side for hosting the 2015 FAL and to all of you who participated.

For those of you who are new to the FAL, it is a place to find motivation and encouragement to complete those unfinished projects that are hanging about. Every quarter you post a list of projects you hope to finish in the next three months, and then at the end of the quarter, you post a link from your blog, flickr, or instagram of each successful finish from your original list.

As you may have already heard, the 2016 FAL has gone global, and a community of bloggers across the world will be jointly hosting:
Each finish at the end of the quarter is an entry for awesome prizes from our sponsors. Remember, there is no penalty for not finishing a listed project, so feel free to make your list as long or short as you wish.  Check out our generous sponsors and prizes for Q1 below. Talk about motivation!

As if that's not enough, 'tutorial week' will return at the end of each quarter, between the opening of the link for finishes and the day that link closes, so stay tuned for more on that at the end of Q1. If you have a tutorial that you would like to share, please let one of the hosts know.

SO, it's time to round up those projects you want to finish over the next three months, take a photo of where you are now, and make your list. Please include projects that are already started, and remember that it is finished projects that will count.

The 2016 Q1 link for your list of proposed finishes is now open below on my blog and on each of the hosting blogs. You only link your list once, on one blog - and that link will show up on all of the blogs. If you are using Flickr or Instgram, link a mosaic and put your list in the description. Katy/The Littlest Thistle has a tutorial on how to link-up if this is your first time.

We also invite you to become part of the FAL community. Please check out the links of others and visit and comment on their lists. We all need encouragement to get those finishes done, so please share some of your own too. I'll be posting my own list soon. On Instagram, follow @finishalong, and we also have a FAL facebook page.

Now it's time to get those lists together and get linked up. The Q1 linky party will stay open until midnight EST, January 16. Since we are global, you might want to check your time zone to determine your last possible time to link. Remember: you only need to link up on ONE hosting blog and it will automatically show up on all hosting blogs. The 2016 schedule and the rules will be on my 2016 Finish-A-Long tab through the year, so that info will always be handy.  Let me know if you have any questions. Let the fun begin!

  2. Hi Debbie, Thanks for taking this project on. This is my first time participating. My question - is this strictly a quilting FAL or can I include my knitting projects? It's not that I don't have quilting projects for the posting I just also have knitting fill in projects.

  6. some nice projects you have here to complete. Not come across the triangles before. I have 2 sets of blocks to be joined up and then about 11 flimsies to be quilted but cannot commit to them till I master the quilting process! Do have lots of projects on the to do list though, usually like to work one one at a time if possible
