Besides the mix of pink and low-volume scraps for the hearts, I chose Kona White and Cotton + Steel Sprinkle in Stardust for my two key fabrics. I followed right along with the sewalong, making a few blocks each week, and that worked great, as I was working on other projects alongside this one.
For backing, I miraculously had several yards of Michael Miller Fabrics' Ta Dot in pinks. This colorway is called "Confection" - isn't that perfect?! And since I had plenty of it, I went ahead and pattern-matched it.
Quilting was done in a simple grid following the seam lines in Aurifil 50wt #2021 (Natural White).
Binding matched the Sprinkle background, and then, just like I'd done on my Strawberry Love quilt, I made a label out of a selvage of Kimberly Kight's "Yours Truly" strawberries print for Cotton + Steel. Even though the strawberry fabric wasn't used in this quilt, the selvage was just too perfect.
This project was on my 2019 Finish-A-Long Q1 List!

This is just absolutely adorable! :D
ReplyDeleteSo sweet. I love how you incorporated the salvage!
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect saying to have pieced into the backing of this quilt. It looks great being photographed out in the snow and I am sure will be loved and cuddled under for years.
ReplyDeleteIt's such a sweet quilt! I love the strawberry print you used in the corner. Funny that I've just used it in a recent project too though in another colourway.
ReplyDeleteWell that turned out beautifully! Special quilt, special girl...She's going to love it! The backing is perfect and kudos for matching the dots. Still my favorite version of this block!
ReplyDeleteAt first I wondered why you had so much batting flakes still on the quilt... well, appears my mind is not so agile today - yes it is snowing... (insert eyeroll)
ReplyDeleteI looooove the quilt: Pattern, scrappiness, label, backing... You nailed it! Baby granddaugther will treasure it for sure. xo
