After enjoying the last season of Tara Faughnan's @tarafaughnan Block Studies Collective, I was already planning on signing up for the current season three. It's a six-month membership in its third season (I didn't participate in the first), that begins with a palette and a block to focus on for the month. This month is Crosswalk, with the palette shown below. Actually, this is the Kona version of the palette; Tara's official palette is a mix of solid brands, and I'll order that a time or two, but this time I ordered on my own.
Truth is, you don't need much fabric for these studies, so I think next month I'll work from stash, but it is always extra fun working with one of Tara's palettes. That said, I didn't use quite all of it in this little (10" x 12") study.

I missed the announcement of Series 3, but it looks like fun! Her color palettes are so good! I enjoy 12 wt thread for hand stitching more than any other thread, I think!
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the very few most interesting blogs I read. Many others seem to exist to sell me something, instead of sharing what they're doing with quilting. Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind words, Kathryn, and you are very welcome! Glad you enjoy A Quilter's Table. If you don't already subscribe, you might enjoy my newsletter too, The Scrap Basket. You can subscribe up in the right-hand side bar if you want to check it out.
DeleteThis is very fun! and fun to hand quilt a little piece, I've been doing lots of that lately too
ReplyDeleteCute, cute, cute! Love your colors, and that hand quilting is the perfect addition to it. A group of us were just talking about Tara's collective, and the cost of online BOMs and workshops. For quiltmaking instructors, it must be more lucrative to teach online than to an in-person guild/chapter. Our MQG chapter, with a small budget, has quickly come to the conclusion that higher prices being charged by quiltmaking instructors is making it nearly impossible to come up with novel programs and workshops for our members.
ReplyDeletegorgeous!!! love the hand-quilting. it's nice to have a range of sizes of projects so you can do a bit of hand quilting sometimes without committing to a Whole Thing. thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I agree about the sizes. It makes it more doable to squeeze in with other projects in the works.
DeleteA batting that is easy to hand quilt is worth noting for future reference! A fun little study piece, and I really like how the quilting lines appear to be different colors based on the fabric color it is on top of.
