Imminent Planning

When I saw Stephanie/Late Night Quilter's Indiegogo campaign for The Quilter's Planner a few weeks ago, I was intrigued and bit the bullet right off! Though I function in my personal and work life via google calendar, I've always created and printed off monthly calendars to keep track of my blogging schedule. With the planner, I'd have the calendars all printed for me, plus there's spots for a variety of To-Do lists - my forte! A bonus for sure are the beautiful patterns scattered throughout, graph-paper for sketching, project organization pages, and much much more.

A surprise to me was that once I had my planner in hand, I'd receive a copy of the Zipper Quilter's Planner Cover by Stephanie and Amanda Hines of What the Bobbin. What a perfect first new project of the new year!

After rummaging through my stash a bit, I settled on keeping things simple and using some Japanese Wooden Houses bark cloth that I'd been keeping for just the right use. I used a couple of Carolyn Friedlander prints for the flaps and pockets, and though I just realized I didn't get a good photo of it, the Path Marker Gold print from April Rhode's Bound coordinated beautifully for the lining.

By leaving off the optional business card pocket, needle minder, and scissor holder, construction was fairly uncomplicated. Considering I expected to have my planner right by me on my desk, I didn't think I needed those this time around. Though by using the bark cloth, it was a little trickier to get my corners perfect, and the zipper bows just a bit.

But I'm quite pleased with the final result, and have already put it to good use. I'm thinking it's going to work out just fine.

  4. Love this! Great fabrics and bookmark, too. I'm finding so many good ideas for planning my 2016 projects. I usually work from scattered to-do lists, but I think I may just work from an organized sewing planner :)
