Mushrooms

You might remember I got several little samplers in my Dropcloth Samplers 

@dropcloth Advent calendar, and recently, I've been working on a mushroom sampler. 

For its size - about 4.5" x 5" - it felt like a lot of stitching. 

Rebecca's plan from the start for this little sampler was for us to make it into a zipper pouch. So we also received, over the course of several days, a zipper, calico lining fabric, and a cute little mushroom zipper pull from Comma Craft Co @commacraftco. All that make me think,  "Why not?" 

First up, I needed to choose a backing for the pouch, and selected a brown and white dot that seemed to coordinate with the front well enough.

I referenced Svetlana Skumanicova's @sotakhandmade video, How to Shorten a Nylon Zipper, to remind myself what length to trim the zipper (1" less than the width of the pouch front) and what size to cut the zipper tabs (1.5" x 2"). It was extremely helpful, and from there I could find way.

It turned out pretty cute, don't you think? Its small size makes it seem like a coin pouch, I think. Whatever, it's always nice to make those samplers into a useable item.

Dropcloth Advent Calendar | Days 15 - 24

Well, my Advent Calendar from Dropcloth @dropcloth continued to bring a spot of anticipation to my mornings. After starting with a bee theme, we've since seen a dessert theme, a mushroom theme, and now a quilt theme - oh joy!

So that's a wrap! I think my very favorite items were the threads and the samplers; but I also really enjoyed new-to-me chocolates(!) and Day One's bee hive thread bobbin! All told, it was a fun and useful mix of items and definitely a treat for the season.

Dropcloth Advent Calendar | Days 7 - 14

I've been totally enjoying my Advent Calendar from Dropcloth @dropcloth. Honestly, it's one of the first things I think about when I wake up in the morning! Where the first six days were all about bees, we've had a couple of new themes since. First there was desserts....

Dropcloth Advent Calendar | Days 1 - 6

It took me a day or three to realize that there was a theme going on. Actually, there apparently are several, but starting off, the theme was bees! Thus began the first several days of treats in my Advent Calendar from Dropcloth @dropcloth.

So far, a needle-minder, pins, thread, beeswax, a little stitchery, and a bit of chocolate. I kinda love it all.
