May Fabric Usage

So May was quite the interesting month in regards to fabric usage. As I mentioned last month, I received a generous gift card to Fabric Bubb from my coworkers when I retired March 31, and I knew right off that I wanted to supplement my solid stash with most of it. After giving it some thought - and thanks for your many helpful suggestions - I did just that. So that accounted for 32 yards brought in.

And that truly could have been enough, right? But my goddaughter is graduating in a couple of weeks, and after chatting with her about quilt designs and fabric, I went ahead and ordered the Wild Forgotten PLUS bundle from Fabric Bubb, along with some coordinating background, backing, and binding fabric. Just a few fat quarters from the bundle won't be included in the quilt, but most of them will be.

So that's what brought my fabric intake total to 43 yards, as shown below. A record for sure. BUT with finishing a baby quilt, a backing for my Kantha quilt, everything that went into creating Rich Red I, the Pivot quilt top, and several smaller projects, things weren't looking too bad. And in reorganizing my fabric stash, I also did some serious recycling, donating, and tossing. All that equaled out to a net usage of .55 yards for the month, which I'm definitely not complaining about. Plus the cleaning kind of reminded me of what I have, which is always a good thing. So I feel good about the in and out that happened in the last several weeks, and look forward to using my freshly sorted stash.
