Effervescence Quilt Along

Back in late November, I signed up for the Effervescence Quilt Along with my friend Yvonne @quiltingjetgirl, then set the thought aside, as December was full, and cutting didn't begin until this week. Finally though, last week I settled on a color palette, very much inspired by Yvonne's own original Effervescence quilt. I let my stash influence a couple of minor changes, so my final fabric pull (barring unforeseen changes) consists of Kona Cotton Solids in (bottom to top): Flame, Tangerine, Kumquat, School Bus, Gold, Spice, Ochre, Yarrow, Pickle, Fern, Clover, Jungle, Caribbean, Breakers, and Pool.

So this week, I'll start in on cutting fabric. I'm looking forward to sewing along with Yvonne and the qal group making a quilt initially created as an improv design. I thought it would be interesting to see how Yvonne translated that into a quilt pattern. The qal goes through July, so I'll share some progress as we go along.

  1. Wow, Yvonne's Effervescence quilt is a beauty and looks to be good challenge.
I hope she and her family manage to stay warm with all that snow.

  2. I'll definitely be curious to get your thoughts on how the pattern works - it is definitely not improv now! I look forward to seeing your palette turn into a quilt.
