Bee and other blocks were pretty simple this month, which was kind of a relief.
There were odds and ends littles, which I really enjoyed, as did all the recipients. And I published a short tutorial for Postcard Blocks, a random little idea that just came to me and I had to try it out, like immediately.
One thing I don't make too often is pillows, so to do 2 in 1 month was pretty unique. Crazy 'Gator was kind of a stretch since I'm not a real paper-piecing fan, but I was excited about my plan to make him crazy-pieced, so that encouraged me on. And I must say, I loved that he fit perfectly on an oblong pillow. This one was made expressly for Louise/I'm Feelin' Crafty's blog hop to share her new 'Gator Quilt pattern, which is available on Craftsy.
The Nested Churn Dash pillow was made during the Nested Churn Dash sew along with quilt jane. I do love a churn dash, and the delight in this one was magnified by using my little stack of Sunprint and Field Day by Alison Glass. I think I smiled more with each new round. And the pillow finished at 24", big and comfy.
So on to the mini quilts. First, Scrap-Vee, made for the Schnitzel and Boo Mini Quilt Swap using a new-to-me tutorial for shattered chevrons by playcrafts. Most of the prints were swapped with bee-mates, and I fell in love with my partner's favorite palette. Chevron quilting this one was a pleasure.
Made for the Oakshott Ruby Mini Quilt Challenge hosted by Sew, Mama, Sew, Red Hots was as satisfying as they come! From the day the Ruby Red Oakshotts arrived in my mailbox to the last stitch, I was entranced with this one. I think I can honestly say I enjoyed the planning, the execution of the striped curves, the quilting(!), and of course the striped-and-matched binding . . . yeah I could go on and on about what a treat this was to make.
And finally, that idea that just came to me one day ended up in a few day's time as The Postcard Quilt. Totally made on a whim, it just delighted me.
Looking back over this post I realize that every single item was either made for someone, or with someone - or many someones! Sewing for and with others is really an amazingly satisfying thing!
Linking up with Fresh Sewing Day.
