Living Coral

You know I've been lurking the Pantone website the last few days, just waiting for the 2019 Color of the Year to be announced. And finally, here it is!

I confess my first thought was, "pink flamingo"!?!? That was the Kona Color of the Year in 2017, and I actually became quite smitten with it. But yes, Living Coral feels quite familiar.

Still, I'm game to play with it in the coming months, just as I have with every Pantone COTY since 2012! It's what I do! Here's where I've been with my little tradition....

:: Ultra Violet 2018 :: "Grape Fizzy"

:: Greenery 2017 :: "Evergreenery"

:: Rose Quartz and Serenity 2016 :: "Pantone Meets Bias Tape"

:: Marsala 2015 :: "Sizzling"

:: Emerald 2013 :: "An Emerald Table"

:: Tangerine Tango 2012 :: "Tangerisk"

So what do you think? Overall, I think it's getting a better response than some. Whatever, it'll be fun to see folks creating with it in the new year.

  1. I think this color is fabulous! But I'm a little biased because the house we just bought has this color paint in the living and dining rooms.

  2. I personally like coral colors more than pinks, but heck, with two young nieces I've embraced all the pink in the world, too. Overall, I think it is a really nice warm color and it will be fun to see what gets created using it!

  4. I'm usually a bit meh with pantone's choices but not this year - love it and better yet I have a metre in my stash! I'm looking forward to seeing what you get up to this time around, my favourite is your quilt from the Marsala year although it's a tough pick.

  9. What fun to see all your Pantone quilts together. Can you share your thoughts on which fabric line comes the closest in representing this coral? There seems to be a lot of different corals out there. I'm looking forward to seeing what you make with it!
