Erica/@kitchentablequilting's Plaid-ish Scrap Quilt is a free tutorial that uses tiny squares, skinny strips, rectangles, and charm size squares. And at 64" x 82", I does use alot of scraps!
If you're worried about the plaid effect 'working' with your scraps, don't be. Erica provides plenty of tips, and honestly, I was more interested in using scraps than I was about having the perfect values, and I think the 'plaid' still shows up pretty well on mine. At the very least, it's colorful and fun and served the purpose at hand - using those scraps!
So are you working on any scrappy projects lately? Do tell, as my scrap basket isn't empty YET!
Congratulations on your beautiful top finish, lovely and exciting.
ReplyDeleteOne person's perfect is another person's boring.
great use of scraps. I used up some scraps on my "Come on get Happy" quilt but it didn't make a dent in my bins
ReplyDeleteNice pattern for scraps! I like that it has narrow strips -- uses some otherwise hard to use pieces.
ReplyDeleteI loved your scrappy quilt!
ReplyDeleteCongrats!!
Sometimes there is no better feeling than being able to use those piles of scraps. Especially prints. Honestly, about the only way I know how to use prints is to go scrappy!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh!! that is a great scrappy quilt!!!
ReplyDeleteTrying to comment for the fourth time... Thank you so much for sharing your quilt, and information about the free pattern. I'm a scrap-user/lover myself, and agree that summertime is perfect to reduce scraps. I have lots of scraps - as my bins will testify! - and this looks like the perfect "next scrappy quilt," to put on my list. I've been using neutral scraps lately, for an improv-pieced quilt, so it's time to start using the colors too! Sure appreciate that you shared Plaidish. It's great! Have you given any thought as to how you will quilt it?
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is gorgeous! I have been working on getting my WIP pile down, so no scraps yet, but I am planning to make some scrap slabs for the backing of my Wanta Fanta quilt :) xo
