At 21", this month's Snowflake Sampler block was one of the largest, and will be a key focus in my finished chickenscratch embroidery quilt.
With all the embroidery I've done this last year, I don't think I've ever used up an entire spool of any one color of perle cotton. But in this one block, I used an entire spool of white perle 8 and then some.... stitching over 400 white star stitches.

Wow! That star is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThey look promising indeed. I think it was smart to break down the stitches into a star point at a time; that would keep me much more enthused to keep going.
ReplyDeleteGreat stitching and progress! Chicken Scratch is a classic going from simple to formal with a change in thread or fabric.
ReplyDeleteAwesome stitching! Love it so much!
ReplyDeleteMy maternal grandmother lived with us for most of my first 18 years and I recall sitting at the kitchen table when I was 8 years old marking gingham for her. She usually made aprons. I am 71 and I still embroider and do Chicken Scratch as does my daughter.
ReplyDeletethat's a really stunning block! fun to see them all together too
