From there, I actually timed myself. One hour, 45 minutes from stack of fabric to finished quilt top - pressing, cutting, piecing.Add another 3 hours or so to piece a simple back (from fat quarters and left-over strips from the top), baste, quilt (serpentine), trim rounded corners, and make binding (bias). Then 2 hours to hand-bind. Total it all up, and I had a cheery baby quilt in under 7 hours. Yeah, I intentionally put the pedal to the metal on this one, but now at least I know what can be done.
This quilt is the first finish on my 2015 Finish-A-Long: Q3 list.
Linking up with Finish It Up Friday. This quilt was donated to 100 Quilts for Kids 2015.
Wow ~ that WAS fast! Love the quilt! I'm putting this pattern on my list to make as a comfy quilt that will be donated to our local shelter. Congrats on your first finish for this quarter!
ReplyDeletesuch a great quilt & quick quick quick! & yeah, I get the whole winery thing! LOL
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful, Debbie! I love the rounded edges too!
ReplyDeleteLove it! You are a fast hand-binder. I am slow but I enjoy the process (as long as it isn't batik fabric because that stuff is gorgeous but a nightmare to hand sew).
ReplyDeleteI love that you timed it. That is so key to know when in a hurry. It's a great pattern but I think it's the rounded corners that set it apart. Great job.

ReplyDeleteHow fun! I'm always looking for quick finish quilts to have on hand!
ReplyDeleteRound of applause for you! And inspiration for the next baby quilt. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteGreat job Debbie! And such a pretty colour palette! The rounded corners are a nice feature too!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it fun, sometimes, just to find out stats?
ReplyDeleteLove rounded edges on a baby quilt. 7 hours is impressive!
ReplyDeleteLove the rounded corners and such a great "fast" make! I think it could be used as a table topper for a wine tasting ;)
ReplyDeleteThat is quick. I have never timed any of my quilts must try that some time.
ReplyDeleteAwesome!
ReplyDeleteThat was quick!
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt! I'm going to keep this design in mind for the next time I need a quick baby quilt!
ReplyDeleteOh what a great high speed quilt! That is pretty impressive and I love the vineyard multitasking!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful, and I love that you timed the making of it. I've done that from time to time, when I need to teach a quilt or something, but not just for the heck of it. Amazing that piecing (which in my mind takes the most time...) was one of the shortest elements.
