Thank you to ALL of you who kindly commented on my Five Years post! You helped make this a really fun week! As promised, I consulted random.org, and the lucky winner of the $50 gift certificate to Fabric Bubb is Arita/[arquilters]. Congratulations, Arita! I've sent you an email.
And a big thank you to Kristina of Fabric Bubb. Her modern online fabric shop is definitely worth a visit, and I hope you stop by soon, as well as find Fabric Bubb on Instagram.
Again, thank you for following A Quilter's Table. You make it all worth doing.

Giveaway Day Winner!
Congratulations to Wendy of Wendy's quilts and more! She was the random winner of the neutral Cotton + Steel basics bundle!
The many comments left on my Giveaway Day post were really enlightening. There were lots of folks that had never used neutrals in their quilts. I hope to peruse the comments again and discuss the topic more in a future post, but for now - THANK YOU for commenting and joining in the fun!

We Have a {Giveaway Day} Winner!
It's been another fantastic Giveaway Day Week! 433 of you stopped by to leave a comment in response to my request to share "one quilting tutorial or pattern found online that you turn to again and again." Boy, do I have some serious perusing to do! You gave oodles of suggestions, several of which I've already pinned to try myself. Thanks for sharing!
So we have a winner! And that would be #72, Lynda, who said, "my go to pattern was found on the Oh Fransson blog, the new wave quilt - have made this up in soft colors for babies, bright colors for toddlers, and neutral and bold browns for male lapquilts - the pattern is easy to work with and I love the finish." Good suggestion, and thanks, Lynda. Congratulations on winning the Priory Square bundle. Enjoy!

Thanks to all of you who stopped by to enter. Hope you enjoy finding some new tutorials and patterns to try in the comments. I know I have!

You Win
Boy do I wish I could send a Pike Place Market mug to everyone that would like one! But since that's not feasible, I left it up to Mr. Random to choose, and Marci/Marci Girl Designs, you win fair and square.
Hope you enjoy your new mug!

A Canvas Win
Thanks to all of you who commented on Friday's Canvas quilt post for a chance to win a copy of Leanne/she can quilt's soon-to-be-released pattern! I thoroughly enjoyed using it to create my Colour Study in Teal and Gold, and was inspired to "recreate" it as a pincushion that you'll see in one of tomorrow's Giveaway Day posts!
Meanwhile, it's time to announce that winner! Congrats to #2, PatchworknPlay! Susan has been such an encourager to me and a consistent supporter of A Quilter's Table, that I was thrilled to see her number come up! Susan, I'll be emailing you!
Thanks again, everyone! Watch for Leanne's "Canvas" pattern to be published very soon! And be sure to follow the #canvasquilt tag on Instagram as other versions are posted. I'm loving seeing the variety!

Three Things . . .
Hey! I've got a thing or three to share with you . . .
First off, I'm over at Sew Mama Sew today with my first monthly Quilting Trends post! Hope you check it out, and in a day or two, I'll have a fun little postscript back here at A Quilter's Table.
Second, I just did something I've thought about for some time. Back when I joined flickr years ago - way before I began blogging and actively participating in the online quilting community - I began using the flickr ID 'flickrdeb50'. Well times have changed, and I just switched my flickr ID to match my other social media connections. SO look for me as 'aquilterstable'. Hopefully this is a smooth transition!
And since I know you always like a quilty photo, here's the start of my latest project - posted in my flickr photostream, of course!
Lastly, it's time to choose a winner of Gen X Quilters' delightful Patchwork Napkins pattern. Congrats to Anita of Quilt in a not-Shell! I've emailed you both. And to anyone who would like to purchase the pattern, you can do so here.

Twofold
After the delightful 2nd place win earlier this week, you'd think that would be enough. But remember back in December when I shared that my Fissures quilt was hitting the road? It had been accepted in the "Wall Quilt - Modern" category of the 2014 AQS QuiltWeek® Contest in Phoenix, Arizona, where Common Affection happens to be hanging with the Modern Quilt Challenge exhibit! The show starts today, and believe it or not, Fissures won 2nd place!
What makes this even more exciting than it already is is the fact that my friend Leanne/shecanquilt won 1st in our category!!! I am so thrilled for her, as she inspires and encourages me so much!
Two of my quilts in the Phoenix show.
Two wins in one week.
Two friends celebrating each other.
Definitely double the fun!

City Sampler Quilt Along :: The Results
I'm feeling kind of apologetic for sharing my City Sampler quilt top again.
But gee whiz! Tula Pink herself(!) chose it as the 2nd place winner in the City Sampler Sew Along contest. Yup, I'm beyond thrilled. Tula's book and fabrics definitely inspired me. It's icing on the cake for her to affirm "Unlocked".
Click here to see a collage Tula posted on facebook of all the finished quilts. And here's the overall winner!

Three Years and Three Days
Last Friday morning, I posted "Three Years" then promptly left town. The Seattle Modern Quilt Guild went on retreat! So I have plenty to share this next week about the Binary Quilt Challenge Exhibit I saw on the way, the retreat itself, and the projects I worked on. But while
I get back in the swing of things, I also need to draw a winner for the giveaway on Friday's
post . . . and by the way, thank you for your kind and affirming comments. I really appreciated each one!
And the lucky winner of $40 credit to Knotted Threads is Megan/Miggsie! Congrats! I'm emailing you!
I'll leave you with one little tidbit from the retreat - a Succulent Pincushion that I received in our Sewn Item Swap. It was made by Kristen Ballou, and isn't it the cutest? Love it!

We Have a {Giveaway Day} Winner!
Well wasn't that fun? Giveaway Day is now over and 652 of you vied for this lovely bundle!
In doing so, I asked you to share one thing you'd like to see happen in the new year in your life as a sewist or crafter. Organization and finishing wips was definitely represented in the comments, as was simply finding the time to express your creativity. But overwhelmingly, there were two skills mentioned over and over again - free-motion quilting and paper-piecing. Interesting reading, for sure, and I thank you all for sharing!
Of course, there's only one winner, and #458, Rocksteadyemme, you are it! Congratulations. I'll be emailing you! And thanks again to all of you for stopping by and playing along. Fun times.

Patchwork, Please! :: Prettified Pincushion + A Winner
It's ironic in a way that the last Patchwork, Please project I have to share is in reality the first one I made. Yup, when we first got our books, daughter dear and I couldn't wait to get started and made Prettified Pincushions together one afternoon. And so, yes, I've been using mine all through the sew along as I've stitched up one project after another.
This is one of those projects where scraps just shine. And the little paper-piecing required makes it perfect for any skill level. I filled mine with crushed pecan shells and added a sweet crochet-covered button from my grandma's button tin. What a satisfying beginning and end to sewing along!
Meanwhile, I need to announce a winner from among the commenters on last week's Zakka Along 2.0 :: Week 18 post! Congrats to Ali of alimakes who wins the prize package from Aurifil/Form & Fabric/Pellon/Cloud9.
I also forgot to mention yesterday that there's a sew along fourth-quarter link up prize that will also be announced next Monday - a $50 gift certificate to Fat Quarter Shop! So be sure and link up any of your last-minute finishes from weeks 16-19. Whew! So much going on during this last week. Can't wait to see what you make!
Linking up with Fabric Tuesday.

Tuesday at the Table
I'm preempting the planned Table post for today after an impromptu discussion about last week's post. Apparently, son isn't the only one with very fond memories of my time at the bakery. Standing around after church Sunday, my post came up in conversation, and I heard from . . .
a godchild who also remembered standing at that bakery window as a little girl, hoping for a fresh-baked cookie . . .
a friend who back in the day asked so many questions about how my days went in a commercial bakery that I got permission for her to join me and we baked one whole day together . . .
and daughter dear, who couldn't understand why I hadn't shared about my interview for the bakery job. So as the story goes . . .
There came a time years ago where hubby and I were struggling financially, and we decided I really needed to find a part-time job. I remember my friend Pam was over one day, and tears rolling down my cheeks, I was looking through the job ads, reading them outloud to her. I came across one that advertised for a part-time baker in a trendy little bakery near our home. Pam said, "You could do that." So with her encouragement, I called, and the owner answered and told me more about the open position. I said I was interested in applying, to which she shockingly replied, "Bring me a pie. A berry pie." Now truth be told, I had never made a berry pie, and surprisingly, I was bold enough to ask her, "how about a cheesecake or a layer cake?" (Things I was much more comfortable baking!) "No," she insisted. "A berry pie."
Talk about stressful! But I gave it a shot. That next morning, I pulled my orange Betty Crocker cookbook off the shelf, settled on page 323, and baked my first lattice-crust blueberry pie, which I hand-carried to Jerilyn Brusseau later that afternoon. And believe it or not, we stood at the bakery bench, she sliced a piece and took a taste or two, then quizzed me on the ingredients and my experience as a home baker. Not long after, I walked away with a start date and a smile.
Thus began my 8-year professional baking career, which at the time was a blessing in more ways than one. And through those years, Jerilyn mentored me to 'bake with love', an adage my family and friends have heard me repeat time and again, and an emotion that just doesn't go away.
Besides that Marionberry Pie I mentioned last week, there were many more baked goodies that our customers came clamoring for, and luckily, I was able to find recipes for a couple online to share with you today: Cinnamon Rolls and Marionberry Cobbler, both Brusseau's classics.
This is random, but you might be interested to know that Jerilyn was the recipe developer behind Cinnabon. So it's a bit ironic that the giveaway winner of this last week's link-up is Julianne of Quilting with Calicos, who is a cinnamon roll baker herself! Congrats, Julianne - I'll be emailing you! And thanks to all of you for sharing from your table!

Zakka Along 2.0 :: Patchwork, Please ~ Supplies + A Winner
Last Monday I posted the sew along schedule {see the list of participating bloggers HERE} . . . and if you haven't started gathering supplies, now's the time to do it!!
Lindsey recently posted on "Sourcing Supplies", and her list is a great resource throughout the sew along as you continue to pick up fabrics, zippers, floss and wool felt. Three shops have generously offered coupon codes for all participants for the duration of the sew along:
Lindsey recently posted on "Sourcing Supplies", and her list is a great resource throughout the sew along as you continue to pick up fabrics, zippers, floss and wool felt. Three shops have generously offered coupon codes for all participants for the duration of the sew along:
- knotted thread: use ZAKKA10 for a 10% discount
- blossom heart quilts: use PATCHWORK10 for a 10% discount
- mountain of the dragon: use PATCHWORKPLEASE10 for a 10% discount
All have really lovely fabrics and I even found a couple of trims that will be great to have on hand when inspiration strikes.
Of course, at the top of the list is a copy of Ayumi's book! We'll be sewing through Patchwork, Please! starting with the Bell Pepper Coasters on June 3, continuing through the book in order clear to the end. New projects will be posted each Monday, giving you until Sunday midnight EST to link up your project for a chance at that weeks prize.
I sat down with my book this weekend and made my own list of supplies - things beyond the fabrics and zips I routinely keep on hand. Don't consider this an exhaustive list - so do thumb through the book yourself, and at least plan a few weeks ahead so you don't have to rush around at the last minute when you're inspired to sew Zakka!
So now I guess it's time to choose a winner of last week's giveaway! The winner of a $30 certificate to knotted thread goes to Lisa of Lisa in Port Hope! Congratulations, Lisa! I'll be forwarding Jenn your email so she can send out that certificate - enjoy! And thanks again, Jennifer, for your support of the Patchwork, Please sew along!
Looking forward to seeing you all next week as the sew along begins! Get inspired by peeking at the growing Pinterest board and flickr group! Some pretty sweet projects are showing up!

Tuesday at the Table + A Winner
If you know anything about the Pacific Northwest, you most likely are atune to the fact that this is coffee country. We are a coffee-stand-on-every-corner kind of place. There are the big brands and the unique one of a kind coffee shops. There are fair trade shops, locally-owned, drive-throughs and even shops in most grocery stores.
And just about every one has coffee cards. I happened to notice this picture on facebook recently.
Obviously I'm not the only person who has a pile of empty {Starbucks} cards in their junk drawer. Around these parts, we get these cards as thank yous, at gift exchanges, even in our Christmas stockings. Whenever I happen to get a unique one, I toss it in the drawer once it's used up. And embarrassingly enough, there's my collection below. I have a special fondness for the snowmen. And those unique to a location like Hawaii or Seattle.
Is that crazy or what? But you know, as much as coffee is a fad here, most of the shops I frequent are actually gathering places. For alot of folks, the local coffee shop is their neighborhood. A little bit of the table away from home.
Meanwhile it's time to announce the winner of that copy of Patchwork, Please! Congrats to #78, Judy V, who commented:
Judy, I am emailing you! I know you will really enjoy making some Zakka "littles"! I was pleased to see how many kitchen and table items are coming up in the Zakka 2.0 :: Patchwork, Please sew along! There's placemats, a darling apron and more. Thanks to all of you for your excitement about Patchwork, Please and the sew along! Lots of fun ahead!

A Winning Thank You
Thank you all for your kind comments on my Two Years post this week! I really appreciated every single one, and your presence at A Quilter's Table each day is what makes it so enjoyable!
And about that giveaway!
Congratulations to Margaret of A Sampler of Stitches!
And about that giveaway!
Congratulations to Margaret of A Sampler of Stitches!
Since Margaret happened to mention the triple zipper and we are in the middle of the Triple-Zip Along, you might as well admire the darling one she made late last year.
Her attention to detail - the zipper pulls, the little tags, and even the fabrics all together make a terrific little pouch!
So thanks to you all, and Margaret, I'm emailing you!

A Tuesday at the Table Winner
A quick hello to announce the winner of December's Tuesday at the Table linky party!
Congratulations to Darcy of Modern Cozy! She is a prolific participant at The Table, and besides going a little donut crazy like myself, has shared all sorts of deliciousness from her kitchen. We had the pleasure of meeting at Sewing Summit, and I so appreciate Darcy's support of me and A Quilter's Table. Darcy - I'm emailing you as soon as I finish this post!
Thanks to everyone who commented and linked up this month! It's been fun!

Oh My Goodness!
After a super busy work week, I've spend the last couple days doing what many of you are doing too - finishing up my Christmas shopping, sewing gifts, thinking about wrapping, meal planning and shopping, and especially, enjoying family. So I wasn't really paying attention today when Kathy at Pink Chalk Studio announced the winners of the Handmade With Love Tutorial Contest.
When my Triple-Zip Pouch tutorial was chosen as a finalist in the Gifts for Friends category over a week ago, I was completely thrilled. And of course, I thought about how nice it'd be to win the category, but I really didn't think it possible. So when the emails started coming in today congratulating me, I rushed right over to Pink Chalk. Boy was I surprised to see that not only had I won the category, but THE contest. Shocked, excited, humbled - that's pretty much how I've felt ever since.
Thank you to all of you who voted for my tutorial, for those of you that have done me the honor of actually making your own triple-zips, and for all of you who just stop by to see what I'm up to here at A Quilter's Table. It means alot.
