2015 Finish-A-Long: Q3 List

The link-up for Finish-A-Long Q3  is live and it's about time I got my list compiled!

1. Inside Addition - I had hopeful plans for a big ole scrappy quilt with these blocks, but 25 blocks in, I'm not feeling it. I have 11 more blocks partially sewn, so even though I love this on-point layout, I'll most likely turn it back square and make it 6x6 blocks and baby-size.

2. Rolling Diamonds - These blocks were made for me by the Mid-Century Modern Bee back in April 2014. Ahem. This is all of them, so I need to make 3 more to make a 4x4 layout. Here's the block tutorial by knottygnome crafts. I remember the block being fun to make in the first place, so hopefully I'll get up the interest to get to it. These are the last of my stashed bee blocks, so I'd really like to do those MCM gals the honor of finishing this one up.

3. Raspberry Kisses - FAITH Circle is currently making blocks for me, as I shared the other day. If things go as planned, I should be able to finish this one up and send it on it's way.

4. Quarter-Cut - For this one, I have the fabric chosen - just 9 fat-quarters is all it takes for this small quilt. I may up-size it just a tad from my original tutorial, but basically I want to see how fast I can make one.

You know there's plenty more in my head, but these are at least 'in process,' and I'm thinking they shouldn't be too bad. Fingers crossed.

2015 Finish-A-Long: Q2 Finishes

Another quarter of the Finish-A-Long is wrapping up, and it was a race at the end, but I managed to finish up my list. First was my Emphasis table runner that I started at QuiltCon.

I had alot of fun quilting this one and it holds such great memories of the class with Carolyn Friedlander.

Then there was our guild paint chip challenge quilt.

18" square, my Through the Looking Glass was just one 'block' in a much larger quilt. Very cool!

And lastly. . .

Just a few days ago I managed to finish Bilateral, a 2-sided quilt with my "Boxed In" bee blocks from That Stash Bee on one side, and my #scrapvortexqal on the other.

Whew. That was a close one! And now it's time to plan for another quarter . . .

2015 Finish-A-Long: Q2 List

For this next quarter of the Finish-A-Long, I'm only listing 3 wips. I've got a couple more squirreled away in my stash, but I'm feeling I've got too many new starts in my head to add them all here now. I'm sure you understand. ;-)

First up are "Boxed In" bee blocks made by That Stash Bee last year. I'm not sure yet if they'll all go in one quilt, become some pillows + a quilt or who knows what. Time will tell.

Next is my Emphasis table runner started at QuiltCon. I started quilting it a few weeks ago, but had some tension issues and have since taken out the several rows of quilting I'd done. I'm really anxious to get back to this, so it hopefully will be finished before long.

And lastly for this quarter is a guild paint chip challenge quilt. I kind of had trouble finding/choosing fabric, but I think I've settled on them now. Since the FAL rules indicate that in order for a project to be eligible, you need to show at least 'a pile of fabric pulled along with a pattern'. Well I'm not planning on using a pattern, so I added in my rotary cutter to indicate the improv I'm planning. Whatever that might be, I have no idea, but this one has an early May deadline, so it'll be in the works soon. The best news is this quilt can only be 18" square.
So there we go. Should be totally manageable. I hope.

2015 Finish-A-Long: Q1 Finishes

The Finish-A-Long has been a huge motivator for me since its inception, and I'm happy to report another successful quarter.

What was the beginnings of a baby quilt did indeed get finished and gifted.
I used Judy Martin's Star Cluster block and up-sized it to make a 40" quilt. This was very fun to make scrappy from stash.

I had begun another baby quilt using shecanquilt's Canvas pattern.
No surprise, it was straight-forward and fun to pull together, and it too has been gifted.

Faith Circle's December quilt was another priority. I had all the blocks and just needed to move forward with them.
The resultant "Junctions" made me so pleased - this palette just always seems to sing. And the intersection blocks using the tutorial by Film in the Fridge were such fun. Considering this quilt was sent off to FAITH Circle's chosen charity, I may just need to try this pattern again sometime.
I'd been wanting a patchwork-covered sketch book for quite some time, so making it a priority to finish before heading to QuiltCon was a no-brainer.
Using Carolyn Friedlander's Doe made this task just a pleasure, and the book has been in pretty constant use ever since. (And I've made about 7 more!)

Lastly is a project you've seen plenty of already this week, my Keychain in Oakshotts and Essex. At the start of the FAL quarter, I had one lone block . . .
And I finished the quilt just in the nick of time! Whew! A great way to end the quarter!
So there we go! I'm pretty pleased to be 5/5! You can click on the names of each project if you missed their reveal posts. Now it's time to plan what's up next!

2015 Finish-A-Long: Q1 List

I feel like I started the year with a pretty clean slate, so it's taken some effort to get going again on sewing projects I really want to make. Of course, the Finish-A-Long is good motivation, and yay! I've managed to come up with a list for this quarter!
  1. First and foremost is a baby quilt due this month! I really can't show much, but trust me, it's in the works!!
  2. And then another!  I enjoyed the baby quilt I made using shecanquilt's Canvas pattern so much, I'm going to use that again. Looks like I haven't gotten too far, but the next step is all cut out.
  3. Faith Circle's December quilt is another priority. I now have all the blocks from my bee-mates, so I can move forward. I'm really shooting to have this completed by the end of the month.
  4. Twice at SMQG sewn-item swaps, I've had my hands on a sweet patchwork journal/sketch book, and twice they've been stolen away. snif. So I guess I need to make my own, and a mini Hack Slash block is just the beginning.
  5. And last is another 'me' project using the Oakshott scraps Cindy/Live A Colorful Life shared with me. It'll be a mini, so how hard could it be?
Even though there's 5 projects on my list, it seems doable. Here's hoping!
