Did you see the top ten finalists in the Riley Blake Designs challenge? Go see! And the new challenge has also been announced using Petal Pinwheels from Michael Miller Fabrics. All the details are here!
I happened by my Quilting with A Quilter's Table flickr group yesterday and saw this Mango block by Nicci Pannell/AuntNino. She made it for her guild's (Bakersfield Modern Quilt Guild) latest charity quilt! What a fun surprise!
And you know what else? These little cross-stitch blocks from Pile O'Fabric have me so intrigued! Since cross-stitch was the first needlework I ever did, I have a soft spot for it and this is the quilty equivalent. Alyssa provides 10(!) block sizes in her tutorial, there's a flickr group, as well as the Ig hashtag.
Very fun, right?! Below is the mini quilt that started Alyssa off with quilted cross-stitch blocks. I may just have to give them a try!
Yep, all that quilting should certainly keep you busy!
ReplyDeleteCute idea with the cross stitch blocks :o)
ooh had not seen the cross stitch block! very cool. can't wait to see your quilting...
ReplyDeleteI love the quilting part, I am looking forward to seeing both of those beautiful quilts finished. I need to make some quilt backs too. A long while back I bought a cross stitch pattern, I will check out the QAL too, as the idea of making a quilt with a cross stitch pattern sure appeals.
ReplyDeleteYeah for basting! Love that cross-stitch block too! And the Mango block is so cool, such a great idea!
ReplyDeleteOoh! I can't wait to see the quilting you do on those quilts!
ReplyDeleteok, so how do you baste? Do you use the spray stuff? I'm getting so sick of pins!! I keep wanting to buy the safety pins ones, but they seem so thick and like they would damage the fabric so I keep on pinning with my super fine pins. and I keep getting stuck! I loved crossstich as a kid! I am thinking I might have to join in and do a crossstitch quilt! but I've got to come up with a fun design! And I'm super excited about the new fabric challenge fabrics!!
ReplyDeleteI love those cross stitch blocks! I have too many projects on my 'one day' list but i still can't help thinking about what i could make with those blocks!
ReplyDeleteI've had that cross heart 'pinned' for ages! I really do want to make one of those! In Liberty maybe?! Now that's a thought!
ReplyDeleteI have had an idea for a cross-stitch quilt like forever! I don't know why I never thought of actually making cross-stitch blocks. This is fabulous. Thanks. And thanks for linking up!
