W.i.P. on the Wall
The secret sewing is going strong, and while that is happening, there isn't much to share, now is there? But all of the blocks from my November Faith Circle quilt plan have arrived, so I'm hoping to at least get the top pieced soon so it can be finished up soon after Christmas. One can hope, right?

W.i.P. on the Wall
I'm sooo close to batting a thousand with my Q3 Finish-A-Long list, but I think my last w.i.p. is going to take too long. It's my latest Bee Sewcial quilt that's on the design wall right now. All the blocks are here, and I've come up with a basic arrangement I like. Now comes the challenge of not only making filler blocks but also fitting it all together.
So I made a couple more and stepped back for a bit.
Well I managed it, so now, roughly speaking, the upper right quadrant is pieced together. So I'm getting there, but it's challenging me, which means slow-going. But so far so good!
I decided to take a look at The Bacon Consideration pin board I'd offered the group as inspiration, and was struck that maybe a pancetta block or two would be a nice addition. So I set out to make one, heavily influenced by a quilt I remembered by from the blue chair. And I loved it.
So I made a couple more and stepped back for a bit.
When I got back to it, I managed a 'bacon bits' filler block (upper left), and relocated one of the pancetta blocks. My original thought was to surround the curves with a background and square it off to meet up with the strip bacon blocks. Luckily daughter dear was over and asked, "can't you just fit the pancetta into the other block?" Duh. Of course I could. [fingers crossed]

Random and Such
Though I haven't managed to post on W.i.P. Wednesday for nearly two months, don't doubt that I'm currently overwhelmed with w.i.p.s. And I mean the kind that I really hope(d?) to have done by the end of September:

It's been super fun to watch the progress of the projects in the Falling for Modern Maples flickr group. Here's a peek!
- My Sew Ready to Play project - top priority this week as 'my day' is next week; quilting is in progress.
- My Patchwork, Please project - next in priority as 'my day' is yet this month; fabrics chosen and that's about it.
- Improv Slice and Insert Quilt - on my Q3 FAL list; blocks are done, next is to figure out arrangement for the quilt top.
- Star Bright quilt for 100 Quilts for Kids charity quilt drive - fabric is cut; this will be quick enough once I get to it.
- Polaroid Quilt - on my Q3 FAL list; haven't touched in a while, and still have no idea about layout.
- September bee blocks - unfortunately haven't given these a thought. Yet.
As far as other randomness, I did join an unusual swap, Amy/sukie80's URHere Swap, where we'll be swapping the new "You Are Here" Starbucks mugs. I luckily found mine to swap today. Now to make a little something to send with it!

Pretty cool, huh? I just can't get enough of these!
Did you see that Sara of Sew Sweetness announced another round of Purse Palooza?

It all begins September 30, and if you're interested in hand-crafted purses at all, you won't want to miss it!
To wrap things up, just a little reminder to check out your favorite color palette site now and then. I happen to follow Design Seeds on facebook and thoroughly enjoy their regular posts - both for the photography and the color inspiration.
So there's an arbitrary list for you. Happy Thursday!
Linking up with Really Random Thursday.

W.i.P. Wednesday
Having a staycation last week allowed for a little extra sewing time and a good report for W.i.P. Wednesday!
Completed projects
For the Love of Solids - The swap is over, and what a fun one it was! Challenging as it was, my partner loved what I made her, so that's all that matters. Please go take a glance at my sharing of the process {see here}.
100 Quilts for Kids Quilt Along - I also posted about this quilt last week {see here}, and was able to drop my donations off with Project Linus. (FYI, they also take completed quilt tops, if you have any you aren't interested in finishing and would like to see go to a good cause!)
do.Good Stitches {a Charity Bee} - Swoon block mailed off {see here}.
Here's a quick glance at those three projects, in case you haven't seen them along the way.
Windows Improv table runner - This hopped on the list since last week - a wedding shower gift, that I need to get photos of.
Zip-pouch for mom - Mom's traveling soon and needed a new little pouch. It's the first time I've cut into a bit of Terrain - yum.
Ongoing projects
* Quilts for siblings #2 and #3.On hold
Block-a-palooza quilt along donated to Project Linus.
There's no W.i.P. Wednesday link-up today, as Lee's overwhelmed by the looming deadline for her fabric design. Feel free to check in and encourage her on over at Freshly Pieced! Have a great week!

Cappuccino Bali Pop Quilt - I got all the blocks pieced! Now there's a fair bit of trimming to be done before I can actually sew them together.
Dead Simple Quilt Along with Lily's Quilts - I showed my palette a few days ago {see here}, but here's a glance at the actual fabrics. Ie. I'm ready to go!

Shades of Grey - Finally have started on these and got 8/12 done. They are quick and fun. These blocks look much better in person - not sure how I'm going to finish this mini-quilt off, so if you have ideas, please share them!
Swoon quilt with Terrain - Fabrics are chosen and paired, but no cutting yet. . . soon, I hope.
Upcoming projects
* Wrenly HST quilt started in Katie's class.
* Stash quilt - zig zag quilt.

W.i.P. Wednesday
W.i.P. Wednesday - Here we are again! I've been able to make good progress on projects with deadlines, thank goodness, and have tidied the stash - always a good thing!
Ongoing projects
Dead Simple Quilt Along with Lily's Quilts - Waiting for all my fabric to arrive - KONA wheat, sweet pea, olive, tan, lupine.
do.Good Stitches {a Charity Bee} - A Swoon block is in my future! Fabrics are chosen, now I just need to start cutting.
A personal staycation this week has given me a little extra time to spend in the sewing room and sort through my upcoming projects. Two are vying for 'next':
. . . a Swoon quilt of my own with Terrain. I've got this on the cutting board, pairing fabrics.
. . . and a wall hanging, I think, with the Shades of Grey pack I won a few months ago. I have a pattern in mind, and want just a splash of color. I ordered the Spearmint, thinking that was 'it'. Now that I have it, I've also found Curry and Zucchini in my stash, and am in a quandary. Thoughts?
That's it for now! Have a great week!
Upcoming projects
* Orange zip-pouch for mom.
* Wrenly HST quilt started in Katie's class.
* Stash quilt - zig zag quilt.* Quilts for siblings #2 and #3.On hold

For the Love of Solids - Done and shipped on Monday! Whew!
My 'large' project was very challenging (read: frustrating), but at its completion I was very pleased. And for my 'small' project, I made my first zippered pouch!
{see here if you missed the sneak peek of both projects}
Sibling quilt #1 - This "Geese in the Park" quilt was made with Central Park, has been labeled and shipped today! {see more here}
100 Quilts for Kids Quilt Along - Storytime Squares quilt top is done and quilted. Binding is half sewn on. It's turning out really cute!

4x5 modern Quilt Bee blocks - Done, and mailed! {see here} I confess, I'm so happy with how these turned out! The aqua and orange block block seems to be one of the flickr favs.
For the Love of Solids - Oh dear. With all the other 'dates' swirling in my head, I messed up on the deadline for this project, but am on my way now. It's definitely in progress, but I'm drafting my own pattern, which is not necessarily in my comfort zone. I have a plan though - now just need to find the time to execute it! Here's a sneak peek.
Sibling quilt #1 - You may remember my Geese in the Park quilt made with Central Park. My brother and sister-in-law really like this quilt, and as soon as I can get a label made, I'll be shipping it off to them. Another yay!
Upcoming projects
* Stash quilt - zig zag quilt.
Dead Simple Quilt Along with Lily's Quilts - Due to start in September - I'm researching palettes.
100 Quilts for Kids Quilt Along - I cut my own DS print charm squares and plan on putting together a Storytime Squares quilt with Kate's quilt-along.

W.i.P. Wednesday
It's W.i.P. Wednesday, and I confess, I spent alot of time in the sewing room this last weekend.
Still making half-square triangle blocks for the Scrapbuster Swap. There's alot of cutting, sewing, and trimming still to be done on this little project. And this baby actually has a deadline, so I need to keep moving.
I've barely begun piecing my Kaleidoscope quilt along triangles, but at least they are at the top of my list now! I'm somewhat uncertain about my lay-out, so that's slowed me down a tad.
Dream Big is still at the quilters. Anxious to see her again soon.
Upcoming projects
* Afternoon Snack table runner adapted from this pattern by G. E. Designs. Really need to get going on this for my mom. Will be trying to cut it out this week.
That's it for this week! Be sure and head over to Freshly Pieced to see more W.i.P.s!

Quilt #6 of the Prairie Women Sewing Circle is almost done! After what seemed like a very long time sewing the rows together, I took advantage of the great weather this weekend and laid it out on the deck to baste. Made basting almost fun! I should have the binding (and the series!} finished by the end of the week!

W.i.P. Wednesday
This week has been a good "back in the groove" kind of week. I sorted through my current and upcoming projects and sort of have a plan for the next couple of weeks. But seriously, there are not enough hours in the day!
* Kaleidoscope quilt along hosted by don't call me betsy - I've added a few coordinates to my Denyse Schmidt Fairgrounds prints, and will soon have my stack collected for this qa that begins June 23.
Upcoming projects
That's it for this week! Now it's time to head on over to Freshly Pieced to see the other great W.i.P.s!
Current projects
Comic Strip Quilt is quilted and so close to being complete - about 18" close, in fact.
My Dream Big top is nearing completion also. The 'pluses' are done.
Now the borders are going on - I'm reminded that this is not my favorite step in the quilting process either! But soon it will be done!
The Prairie Women Sewing Circle mini quilt has been put on hold for a few days as things progres on the previous two projects. Lots of little pieces and trimming yet to do here.
